A Timetabled service on the world-famous Leeds – Settle – Carlisle railway line has been powered by steam for the first time in 49 years. The service is part of celebrations to mark the reopening of the route after landslides closed the line further North.
Tornado is the newest steam locomotive in Britain and is operating on the section between Skipton and Appleby for three days starting on Valentines day.
People were waving their hands from the side of just about every road close to the Railway.
Whilst passengers in the vintage coaches enjoyed a very smooth ride inside the old but comfortable former intercity rolling stock.
I discovered the sheer joy of seeing the beautiful Yorkshire Dales scenery whist riding behind the newest steam engine built in the UK. What an absolutely wonderful joy!
